This sofa for two was designed by Eero Saarinen in 1948. The Womb Chair is considered one of the icons of postwar American modernism. Designed by Eero Saarinen in 1946 and produced by Knoll International since 1948 (originally as Model No. 70).
Saarinen developed the Womb Chair in close collaboration with a boat builder. It was his explicit intention to design a chair that would allow for different seating positions and create a special feeling of relaxation and coziness. This central design concept is vividly expressed in its name. Also called the loveseat.
